Information About State Coalitions

What is a State Coalition?

State mathematics, science, and technology coalitions have their origin in a 1988 mathematics-focused project of the National Academy of Sciences that was funded by Exxon Education Foundation. Today's coalitions have a shared mission that has expanded to include science and technology education.

What have State Coalitions Accomplished?

The accomplishments of each coalition are responses to the state-specific priorities and resources. The state-by-state reports presented here also reflect the state of development of the coalition, with mature coalitions being involved in the shaping of state education policy affecting mathematics, science, and technology education.

Where Are They?

Coalitions are at varying stages of development in over half of the states. Information about coalition leaders and websites of those coalitions is available here. Information about states in which coalition activity is at a start-up level (or has yet to be initiated) is available through the NASSMC link provided.
