NASSMC's work is guided by the principle that national aspirations for the improvement of mathematics, science, and technology education (MSTE) can be realized only on a state-by-state basis. However, because all NASSMC member coalitions share the goal of developing and implementing sound education policies that support the continuous improvement of MSTE, networking among states is a necessary and valued service.
These services are provided by NASSMC staff, by members of existing state coalitions, and by representatives of organizations that are partnering with NASSMC. They have been financed through a combination of federal agencies, private foundations, and state sources.
