NDMSA is the only state-level coalition of business, education, and policy leaders that is promoting long-term improvement of the state's system of mathematics, science, and technology education from pre-kindergarten through college.
NDMSA is in the process of rebuilding. It has established a website to make citizens aware of the status of mathematics, science and technology education (MSTE) in the state. NDMSA recently hosted a business-education conference titled The Role of Mathematics and Science in North Dakota Economic Development. It now is planning of several follow-up meetings to get out the messages emerging from the conference and to work toward influencing state legislation affecting MSTE. NDMSA maintains a listserve to provide information to members about the status of mathematics around the country and what is going on in the state.
The statewide conference on The Role of Mathematics and Science in North Dakota Economic Development is viewed a singularly successful first step in rebuilding the North Dakota Mathematics and Science Alliance. It has redirected the Alliance's energies toward helping to craft and pass legislation favorable to the improvement of mathematics, science, and technology education.The North Dakota Mathematics and Science Alliance currently has no products to share. It is engaged in compiling statistics to clarify the status of mathematics and science in North Dakota.
A key partnership has been established with the North Dakota Workforce Development Council.
